December News Roundup & TOC Preview

Greetings and Happy Holidays from Betwixt. 2014 is just around the corner, and you know what that means—issue 2 of Betwixt launches in a matter of days! Before we give you a sneak peek at the table of contents for our winter issue, here’s the latest news.

For the stats fans out there, we’ve put together a rough breakdown of our submission statistics from our second reading period, which ran from October through the end of November. Read it here.

Bernie Mojzes’s story “The Red Danube,” from Betwixt issue 1, was quoted in a paper on ethnic cleansing in the Balkans and also received a spectacular review from Charlotte Ashley over at ChiZine.com. Ashley writes:

No end-of-year round up would be complete without mentioning Bernie Mojzes’s “The Red Danube” (Betwixt Issue 1, Fall 2013). This story is something else. . . . This is a story you need to read several times over and it will weird you out every time. That is a sign of good art.

Finally, we’re very pleased to announce that the following stories will appear in issue 2 of Betwixt.

  • “The Stone Horse of Flores” by Michael J. DeLuca
  • “A Ring of Red and White” by Willow Fagan
  • “Alienation” by Robert Pritchard
  • “The Book of the Lost” by Sharon J. Gochenour

The issue will launch on the site on January 1 and will be available for purchase in electronic and print-on-demand formats shortly thereafter.
