Greetings, Betwixt readers! I have two important announcements for you tonight.

Issue 11
Starting at midnight on April 1, Betwixt will once again be open to submissions. The submission period will last from April 1 through May 31, and issue 11 will be published on July 15. As always, I recommend reviewing our submission guidelines, policies, and back issues prior to submitting. I look forward to reading your stories!

The Future of Betwixt
After the publication of issue 11, Betwixt will be going on hiatus for an indefinite period of time. This has been a very difficult decision for me. I’m incredibly proud of the issues we’ve published since our launch in 2013, and I have no desire to shut the magazine down for good. However, I currently lack the resources (both money and time/energy) to keep publishing on a regular basis. As such, suspending operations until I have the necessary resources seems like the best course of action.

The website and all published issues (including issue 11) will remain online, and ebook and print editions of the magazine will remain available for sale. I also plan to publish the long-awaited Betwixt: Year One collection and the two subsequent volumes in the near future. It’s possible that I may be able to work on some other projects as well, if circumstances allow. However, the gist of all this is that issue 11 will be the last issue of Betwixt for the time being—although hopefully not forever! (So, if you’ve been meaning to submit a story to us but haven’t, this submission period would be a great time!)

If you have any questions about any of this, please feel free to contact me directly at joy@betwixtmagazine.com

Greetings, Betwixt readers and submitters! I have three announcements for you today:

(1) I’m pleased to announce that the wonderful and talented Julia Gilstein and Lisa Usani Phillips will be guest editing issue 10 of Betwixt. Julia and Lisa are looking forward to reading your submissions throughout October and November!

The submission address and guidelines will remain the same. If you have a general question about Betwixt, please email us at info@betwixtmagazine.com.

About the Guest Editors

Julia Gilstein is a full-time editor for Skyword and occasional freelance editor and writer. She lives in Boston and spends her free time dabbling in fantasy fiction, procrastinating on NaNoWriMo, and stealing her roommate’s lap dog. Keep up with Julia on Twitter.

Lisa Usani Phillips, MFA, has worked as a writer and editor since 1996, and is currently a senior content editor at EBSCO Information Services. Her writing has appeared in Current Biography, the Longman Journal for Creative Writing, Where the Stories Come From, Beacon Street Review, and Salt magazine, among others. She is (still) working on her first novel and is careful to walk three paces behind her celebrity rescue dog, Lloyd.

(2) We’re adjusting the publication dates slightly for issues 9 and 10. Issue 9 will be published on October 15. Issue 10 will be published on January 15. The scheduled submission periods will not change.

(3) On a personal note, I’m incredibly happy to announce that we’ve welcomed a new member into the Betwixt family. Alanna Jennifer Crelin-Spencer was born shortly before noon on September 4. She’s pretty much the best! (Infinite thanks to the guest editors for all their help during this rather interesting time.)
